What is BOINC?

BOINC is a software platform for volunteer computing and desktop Grid computing.

위에 써있는데로 BOINC는 자원하는 컴퓨팅을 그리드로 엮어주는 프로그램입니다.
초기에는 SETI(외계 지적 생명체 탐사 프로젝트)의 일환으로 이뤄졌으나 점점 그
규모가 커지고, SETI 외에 슈퍼컴퓨팅 능력을 필요로 하는 분야에서 다양한 프로젝트들이 추가됨에 따라 보다 유휴 컴퓨팅 자원을 제공해주는 자원자들에게 편의성을
제공하고자 BOINC라는 프로그램이 진행되고 있는듯합니다.
그것도 NSF에서 펀딩 받아가면서... 이게 괜찮은듯.. ㅎㅎ
